R-410A IS HERE TO STAY
Know the Facts that will keep you and your customers safe!

More manufacturers are building air conditioning equipment using HFC R-410A.

It is important that you understand the safe handling, proper charging, operating characteristics, proper applications, and general use of R-410A refrigerant.

The EPA has established the phase out of the HCFC R-22 with no production or importing beginning in 2020. However, equipment manufacturers must phase out the use of HCFC R-22 in new units by January 1, 2010.

Manufacturers are already building systems that utilize R-410A. These newly designed R-410A systems employ thicker walled tubing, and compressors capable of withstanding the higher pressures of R-410A. R-410A systems require different installation and service procedures.

R-410A air conditioning systems require service personal to shift to different tools and equipment, safety standards and fundamentals when installing, changing out (retrofitting) older split A/C systems, and repairing systems in the field.

R-410A:

  • Should only be used in equipment specifically designed and constructed for higher pressure refrigerants.
Operates at considerably higher pressures and requires the use of special tanks, gauges and recovery equipment.

  • Requires training of installation and service personnel in the proper and safe handling of R-410A.

  • Needs service personnel to understand why all refrigerant flow controls, valves and driers have changed and must be properly applied with newly designed & built compressors.

  • Many equipment manufacturers are well aware of the concerns and safety issues of working with R-410A and other HFC refrigerants and are requiring installation and service professionals who purchase their R-410A systems to be R-410A Certified.

Do not be denied your opportunity to work on current and future equipment because you did not opt to get certified.

How To Prepare For Certification:

Preparing for the Universal R-410A Safety Certification, is easy. Either read the Universal R-410A Safety and Training Manual, or view the Universal R-410A Safety and Training Interactive CD-ROM.

Training Manual: This book will provide you with the necessary training and practical knowledge to safely perform service on systems containing R-410A and R-407C. In addition, this manual includes information on: the R-22 phase-out, appropriate refrigerant and oil applications, service techniques, as well as safe handling of R-410A.
Interactive CD-Rom: This CD reviews the book chapter by chapter in a interactive manner.
The CD breaks R-410A training into categories each with specific sub topics. Each category contains practice questions to help persons to successfully prepare for their R-410A Certification.

Successful test takers will receive a wall certificate, a wallet sized certification card and an embroidered shoulder patch issued by HVAC Excellence.

With your AC&R 410A Certification you can show evidence of your professional ability to safely handle and work with this new generation of refrigerants and air conditioners.
